A Foodie’s Guide to Park City 2016-2017

The restaurants, dishes and Park City dining experiences you need to try this year — with something for the whole family.

Glhwein vor Kamin - Mountain Dining

Park City might be known for its powdery snow and epic terrain, but this mountain town is a world-class dining destination. From the best family-friendly restaurants to on-hill favorites, here are our must-try Park City dining experiences for 2017:

What’s New: Handle

Why we love it: Apart from its focus on locally sourced food and easy-to-share small plates, we love Handle’s relaxed, mountain-modern vibe and creative cocktails.

What to try: Pork belly with grilled eggplant, buffalo cauliflower, beef cheek sliders

Where to stay: Main Street. You’ll want to walk off dinner on the way home, and we have six private ski homes that let you do just that. You’ll also have easy access to the Town Lift for skiing and riding at Park City Mountain the morning.

What’s Lively: The Silver Star Café

Why we love it: Cozy and authentic with a warm rustic vibe, The Silver Star Café is a hidden gem away from the crowds of Main Street. Of course, after Food Network’s Guy Fieri featured the café on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, it may not be so hidden anymore! We love the relaxed atmosphere, craft cocktails and live music series, which features local and emerging national artists on tour.

What to try: Buttermilk fried chicken half, branzino, wild mushroom stroganoff

Where to stay: Silver Star at Park City. The Silver Star Café is on-site at this ski-in/ski-out community, making the walk home to your luxury condo or townhome an easy one. Silver Star features 2- to 5-bedroom accommodations (many with private hot tubs), an on-site heated swimming pool, front desk with concierge staff, and private heated underground parking.

Must-Try For Families: Fireside Dining

Why we love it: Any evening that starts with a horse-drawn sleigh ride and ends with chocolate fondue will make our list of dream experiences, but we particularly love Fireside Dining in Empire Pass at Deer Valley Resort for its seamless, kid-friendly setup. With staff at four stone fireplaces ready to serve raclette, stew, roasted lamb leg and baked bread, you can enjoy dining with your family without the hassle of ordering and waiting for entrees.

Where to stay: Empire Pass. From luxury slope-side condos at Silver Strike Lodge and gorgeous private homes like Northside Villa and the Ski Utah home, Empire Pass offers some of the finest ski-in/ski-out accommodations at Deer Valley Resort. Options like Fireside Dining and restaurants within the nearby Montage Deer Valley have made Empire Pass an even more attractive location.

Fine Drinking: Fox School of Wine

Why we love it: A lighthearted approach to wine, this weekend series, conveniently located near the base of Deer Valley Resort, makes learning more about your favorite vintages a lively, social experience — tastings included. New this season, try A Table of 12, an hour-long food-and-wine pairing class with four to five foods and four wines.

Where to stay: Racer’s Roost. This 5-bedroom ski home lies just minutes from the base of Deer Valley Resort for easy access to not only wine classes, but ski school, shops, restaurants and lift tickets.

On-Mountain: Royal Street Café

Why we love it: The uber-friendly Deer Valley service and convenient Silver Lake location would have us stopping at Royal Street every time we skied Deer Valley even if we weren’t dreaming of the chocolate chip cookies from the time we rode our first chairlift.

What to try: Aside from the cookies, we highly recommend the BBQ bison burger, fish tacos and shrimp gumbo. And yes, the famous Deer Valley turkey chili is as good as it’s rumored to be.

Where to stay: Silver Lake. Ski in and out from these convenient slope-side private homes, complete with amenities like private hot tubs.

Our Favorite: Dining In-Home

Why we love it: From apres-ski s’mores to a full in-home meal prepared by a private chef, sometimes there’s no place like home for a memorable meal with family or friends.

Where to stay: Every Resorts West property comes with a gourmet kitchen ideal for home cooked meals. Your concierge can take care of the groceries.
