King’s Estate may sit on a private ski run in a gated community at Deer Valley Resort. Driving past Gandhara in the gated community of Deer Crest, it’s easy to miss the 11,000 square-foot chalet altogether. Built seamlessly against the mountain on Deer Valley Resort’s Jordanelle run, the unassuming residence is another testament to architect Michael Upwall’s ability to unify slope and sanctuary. Named for an ancient kingdom in what is now Pakistan, the home exudes an Asian influence with sculpture, painting and mixed-media pieces by some of the world’s most respected contemporary artists, including several pieces by China’s Yue Minjun.
The ski-in/ski-out home features a prep room with boot warmers, a slope-side salt water hot tub, sauna, après lounge and indoor bar. Guests can also enjoy a stadium-seat theater with leather recliners, a pool table, outdoor fire pit and views from floor-to-ceiling windows. Five of six bedroom suites offer a king or queen bed, private bath, stone fireplace and flat-screen TV. The sixth bedroom offers two sets of captain bunks with a private bath and flat-screen TV.
All guests of Gandhara receive Private Concierge service, daily housekeeping and complimentary shuttle service throughout Park City. Guests who stay between Dec. 22, 2012 and Jan. 4, 2013 also receive private chef service (cost of food not included), a dedicated housekeeper and holiday decoration. Deer Valley Resort, consistently ranked the top resort in North America by readers of SKI magazine, is a skier-only luxury resort just 37 miles from the Salt Lake International Airport.

Sterling Lodge offers ski-in/ski-out access for all abilities.
Few destinations in the world can match the number of mid-mountain, ski-in/ski-out properties that Deer Valley offers. But while a click-in-and-go location may be heaven for intermediate and advanced skiers, beginners may feel intimidated if the access run is too steep. Thankfully, Deer Valley’s slope-side diversity covers green skiers, too! If you have beginners or never-evers in your group, consider one of these slope-side lodging options with access for all abilities:
Black Diamond Lodge
This ski-in/ski-out lodge sits near the base of Deer Valley Resort for easy access to ski school and a wide variety of gentle slopes. Skiing in is a breeze via the beginner Little Stick run. Intermediate and advanced skiers can take the Carpenter and Silver Lake Express chairs for access to all six of Deer Valley’s mountains.
Mountain Crest Villa
This 6-bedroom ultra-luxury villa sits near the top of the Jordanelle Gondola in the gated community of Deer Crest at Deer Valley Resort. The green Deer Hollow run offers easy access to the base, while more advanced skiers can take advantage of fun mogul runs and steep terrain on Deer Crest Mountain. The more challenging Empire Mountain is just two lifts away.
The Sterling Lodge is nestled on the tail-end of the Silver Link run, offering premium access to Silver Lake, Deer Valley’s mid-mountain base. Silver Link earns a “blue” designation for a steep upper slope, but the lodge sits on the mellow bottom half for a gentler slope to the base. From here, skiers of different abilities can take virtually any lift up together and find a comfortable way down — be it green, blue or black.
Silver Strike Lodge
Sometimes, the easiest way to enjoy ski-in/ski-out access as a group is to choose a lodge at the base of a chairlift. The Silver Strike Lodge’s namesake lift whisks skiers to the top of Flagstaff Mountain, where four beginner runs, six intermediate slopes and two black diamond runs await. Advanced skiers can also easily access Empire Mountain, known for tree runs, powder and moguls.
6 Bellemont Home
This 6-bedroom home is a great option for groups with beginners who want to test themselves on intermediate terrain. The home sits on the green Silver Dollar run, a residential ski loop which briefly connects the blue Last Chance run before ending on the green success run. The wide, sunny slopes in the Snow Park area are ideal for getting comfortable on new terrain.

5 Northside Home at Deer Valley Resort
Staying at a slope-side vacation home can be a special experience for a family, particularly as kids grow older and become more independent. Staying ski-in/ski-out allows parents, kids, and even grandparents to hit the slopes at their leisure with no need to coordinate a ride to the resort or force everyone in the group to ski the same amount of time. With a ski-in/ski-out property, kids can wake up early for first tracks or sleep in until noon; if they miss family lunch on the hill, they can swing by the house for a sandwich.
These Park City and Deer Valley homes offer prime ski-in/ski-out access with the space, privacy and convenience to comfortably host large families and groups of friends on different schedules:
5 Northside - This 5-bedroom ski chalet is nestled directly on Deer Valley Resort’s Hawkeye Run for ”out the door” access to the slopes of Empire Pass. Guests enjoy a home theater, private hot tub, gourmet kitchen and wet bar.
3111 Deer Crest Home – Located in the gated community of Deer Crest at Deer Valley Resort, this 6-bedroom home offers access to a private, groomed ski run that leads to the Jordanelle Gondola for access to the Deer Crest and Snow Park areas. This home features stunning views of the Jordanelle Reservoir with ample deck deck, a stadium-seat theater, pool table and wet bar.
The Laughing Ranch - This 5-bedroom home was designed for families, complete with a “Kids Only” playroom. Ski access is through a wooded trail to the intermediate slopes of Silver Lake at Deer Valley Resort. Amenities include wrap-around decks, a private hot tub, lounge and flat-screen TVs in each bedroom.
816 Woodside - This 5-bedroom home is actually 30 meters from Park City Mountain Resort’s Quit’n Time run, for a ski-boot walk of about 40 seconds — just long enough to warm up and click in. The Old Town location makes it easy to explore Main Street, and snowboarders in the group can enjoy the close proximity as well. (Deer Valley is a skier-only resort, but Park City Mountain welcomes boarders.) Amenities include an elevator, secluded outdoor hot tub, wet bar and top-of-the-line electronics throughout.
29 Colony - This 6-bedroom home sits directly on Canyons Resort’s Sanctuary Run for backyard ski and snowboard access. Tucked away in the mountains, this home more closely resembles a private ski lodge than a home, with multiple entertainment spaces, an indoor bar, private hot tub, stadium-seat theater, library, fitness suite and sauna.
Resorts West offers an inventory of ski-in/ski-out homes and lodge condos at each of Park City’s three world-class ski resorts. Please call our reservations team at 1-877-773-1117 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Families often make compromises when searching for the perfect ski vacation rental. If a home offers enough space, it might sit too far from the slopes; if it’s ski-in/ski-out, it may lack amenities. Some rentals, however, like the Mountain Crest Ski Home at Deer Valley Resort, seem to have it all.
Set atop Deer Valley Resort’s Little Baldy Peak just below the Jordanelle Gondola, this 6-bedroom vacation rental boasts ski-in/ski-out access, a covered grotto-style hot tub, fitness suite, massage room, sauna, indoor bar and stadium-seat theater. Ideal for families traveling together, the chalet features five king suites with private baths and a kid-friendly bunk room. All guests enjoy private concierge service, complimentary shuttle service throughout Park City proper, and daily housekeeping.
